Thank you everybody for coming to the stream today! Walkyre, Matra, Reev, Cleia, Kite, Per, Ophe, Aer, Lunchbox and everybody who dropped by for waving :’) today was really fun and been on a lot of hours always in good company.

We made a small music game at the end. It was about being the first recognizing the name of the song I was playing at that moment. It was fun! XD Those are the winners lol. We enjoyed it and I laughed a lot, so might repeat next time for fun and gifting small chibis. (only one winner though XDD)

Tomorrow I’ll finish another piece! :)

Funny, I commented about this recently to my friends too! Yeah, it happens. But sometimes we overworry about the pieces look too similar when they actually don’t. If you are worried, show both pieces to your friends, I’m sure they will help you with that ugly feeling. It’s almost impossible to make something completly new and different, but keep trying. Maybe someday, someone finish a drawing they like very much, but they find YOUR drawing  and ask the same question to themselves haha. :)

I confess I’ll miss some pieces like this in my dA after the cleanup, lmao :D

Today I gave my students a quick presentation on some of the basic considerations for composition, which I am now sharing with you! I’ve given them separate talks about color and tonal value/contrast, which are also super important compositional concerns. (I’ll be sharing those presentations too once I properly format them)

I personally love learning about different compositional techniques. It’s fun to think about the ways that the brain views & sorts images, and how we can trick it into feeling a certain way or looking at certain aspects of an image first! It’s easy to fall into compositional ruts (which I am also guilty of) because a lot of art gets by with mediocre, though serviceable, compositions. If you can generally understand what’s happening in an image then it’s generally fine. However, it’s the truly great compositions, where everything in the whole image has been considered and ‘clicks’ together, that bump up an illustration to a visual slam dunk. NC Wyeth is one of my favorite artists for this reason: his compositions are rock solid, varied based on the image’s intent, and always enhance the mood or action he is depicting.

For extra reading, some online compositional resources that I’ve found helpful or interesting include:

Gurney Journey (check out the “Composition” tag, but really everything he posts is great)

This is a special day to me. I just got accepted into Art school. To me is a dream, and been willing to follow the artist path for almost a whole life, improve, enjoy. After seeing my name on the lists I couldn’t react, I got home and still hasn’t reacted. I should be jumping with happiness, but I can’t believe it. I’m so shocked that all I could do is to come to the computer and keep drawing.

Thanks everybody for your encouragement words and for being there.
